"Get involved and feel the difference !!"

2008 has been a tough year and it seems 2009 may be even tougher. As we ready ourselves to face a sluggish economy, there are a few key factors that I have learnt and would like to share. First, do not panic, as it worsens the situation. Secondly, prepare for the challenges ahead. Finally, maintain your network of family and friends. Having involved myself with APICS has helped me in all these areas.

 

I have been involved with APICS for a number of years as a member. I volunteered to become a board member in 2007 and since then have been able to contribute and learn a lot of things which I would not have under normal circumstances. More importantly, serving on the chapter board provides me an opportunity to develop leadership, strategic planning and intense team working skills.

 

People who know me might wonder why an IT guy like me is involved with APICS. Not many of you know that what we do as board members are things that we do not often get to do in our regular work or personal lives. We take on various roles typical to a standard business organization to execute to the best of our ability. If we succeed, we derive immense pleasure and if we fail and we learn from it. Where else could you get this luxury of doing things that you yearn for without risking your job or career?

 

APICS Cleveland Board is a family of like minded professionals who have volunteered to spend their time trying to establish a forum for people to learn, succeed and give back to the community. Get involved and feel the difference !!
